[edit]Borrowed from Ukrainian нудни́й (nudnýj), from Old Ruthenian нꙋдны́й (nudnýj, “boring”), from Old East Slavic нꙋдьнъ (nudĭnŭ, “gruelling, difficult”), from Proto-Slavic *nudьnъ. By surface analysis, ну́да (núda) + -ный (-nyj).
