[edit]Ultimately from Polish małpa. Cognates include Belarusian ма́лпа (málpa), dialectal на́ўпа (náŭpa), Carpathian Rusyn ма́лфа (málfa), Czech and Slovak malpa (“sapajou”), Lower Sorbian nałpa and Ukrainian ма́впа (mávpa), dialectal на́лпа (nálpa).
