Etymology
[edit]From Classical Mongolian ᠮᠥᠷᠡᠨ (mören, “big river”), from Middle Mongol ᠮᠦᠷᠡᠨ / 沐舌漣 (mürän, “river”), Proto-Mongolic *müren (“river, sea”). Cognate with Dongxiang moron, etc. Semantically compare to Chinese 江 (jiāng) and Manchu ᡠᠯᠠ (ula).
