[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak musieť, *musíť, from Old Czech musiti, ultimately from Old High German muozan. Cognates include Belarusian му́сіць (músicʹ), Czech muset, Polish musieć, Slovak musieť and Ukrainian му́сити (músyty).
