[edit]First attested in 1796. много- (mnogo-) + сою́з (sojúz) + -ие (-ije), calque of Late Latin polysyndeton, from Byzantine Greek πολυσύνδετον (polusúndeton). Compare with полиси́ндетон (polisíndɛton).
