Etymology

Borrowed from Russian ме́рзкий (mérzkij), formally reflecting Proto-Slavic *mьrzъkъ (frosty, cold) (probably originally meaning cold hearted). Related to Bulgarian мръ́зна (mrǎ́zna, to feel cold) + -ък (-ǎk).
