[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *lono, of unclear origin. Perhaps from (obsolete) лог (log, “post, seat”) + -сно (-sno) (in Slavic *-g-sno > *-xno > *-no), related to Proto-Slavic *ložesno (“womb”).
