[edit]Probably borrowed from Karelian linna.[1] Cognates include Ter Sami ланнӭ (lânnʹe), Skolt Sami lâʹnn (“town; castle”), Inari Sami lanne (“town; prison”) and Northern Sami ladni (“castle, fortress; prison”).
May have been influenced by North Germanic land.
