Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *kon- (to spend a night). Cognate with Kyrgyz конуу (konuu), Kazakh қону (qonu), Karachay-Balkar къонаргъа (qonarğa), Kumyk къонмакъ (qonmaq), Bashkir ҡуныу (qunıw), Tatar кунарга (qunarga), Azerbaijani qonmaq, Turkish konmak, Shor қонарға, Khakas хонарға (xonarğa), Tuvan хонар (xonar), Tofa ӄонар, Yakut хон (qon), etc.

    When the noise was heard, all of them went out (rapidly) from the room.
