Etymology

Borrowed from Spanish castañeta (diminutive form of castaña). Ultimately from Latin castanea (also the ultimate source of Russian кашта́н (kaštán)), from Ancient Greek καστάνεια (kastáneia, chestnut), from Ancient Greek κάστανα (kástana).
