Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic желъвь (želŭvĭ), желꙑ (žely), from Proto-Slavic *želỳ.[1] Cognate with Russian желвь (želvʹ), Polish żółw, Ancient Greek χέλῡς (khélūs). Doublet of жулвъ (žulv).
