Etymology 1

Cognate with Romanian grapă. Possibly a regional form of Bulgarian гребло́ (grebló, raker) (cf. Serbo-Croatian гра̏бље (rake)) or alternatively, borrowed from Italian grappa (hook, brace) (?) of Germanic origin.
