[edit]Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish گركف (gerkef, “embroidery hoop”), from Persian کارْگاه (kârgâh, “workshop”). Cognates include Macedonian ѓерѓеф (ǵerǵef) and Serbo-Croatian ђѐрђеф.
