Bulgarian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *brъzda, whence Old Church Slavonic бръзда (brŭzda, “halter”), Czech brzda (“brake”).
Pronunciation
[edit]Noun
[edit]бръ́зда • (brǎ́zda) f (dialectal)
Usage notes
[edit]The singular form has mostly gone out of use. Only the earlier dual бръзде (brǎzde) (often reanalyzed as a sg. neuter) is formally attested within dialects.
