[edit]From *burunqu (“former, old-time”), from Proto-Turkic *burun (“before, earlier than”).
Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (burunγï, “former, old-time”); Kazakh бұрынғы (būrynğy), Kyrgyz мурунку (murunku), Uzbek burungi, Khakas пурунғы (purunğı, “old-time, former, ancient”), Tuvan мурнуку (murnuku, “advanced, front-line; earlier, former”), etc.
Synchronously, борон (boron, “earlier, before”) + -ғо (-ğo).
