From *burunqu (former, old-time), from Proto-Turkic *burun (before, earlier than).

Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (burunγï, former, old-time); Kazakh бұрынғы (būrynğy), Kyrgyz мурунку (murunku), Uzbek burungi, Khakas пурунғы (purunğı, old-time, former, ancient), Tuvan мурнуку (murnuku, advanced, front-line; earlier, former), etc.

Synchronously, борон (boron, earlier, before) +‎ -ғо (-ğo).
