Etymology
[edit]Akin to Old Turkic 𐰉𐰆𐰞𐰍𐰀 (b¹ul¹ǧa, “to stir up”), from Proto-Turkic *bulgar + -инъ (-inŭ), the former being the active noun/adjective of *bulga- (“to create a state of disorder; to stir, to disturb”).
