Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic благоѫхати (blagoǫxati), a calque of Ancient Greek εὐωδέω (euōdéō), ultimately from Proto-Slavic *ǫxati. By surface analysis, благо- (blago-) +‎ уха́ть (uxátʹ).
