[edit]Cognate with Kalmyk батраш (batraş), ultimately from an Iranian source, perhaps Persian بادرنگ (bâdrang, “citron, cucumber”) (for the meaning compare Manichaean Parthian wʾdrwng (wādrūng, “lemon balm, balm mint”)).
