[edit]Derived from dialectal or Old East Slavic борошень (borošenĭ, “travel belongings”), through an intermediate form *борохъло before undergoing akanye, itself from *борох, from the same origin *borchъ, whence Czech brašna (“travel bag”), a derivative of Proto-Indo-European *bʰer-, from where беру (beru, “I carry”), брать (bratʹ, “to carry”) and Ancient Greek φέρω (phérō, “I carry”).
