[edit]Action noun of aš- "to surpass", from Proto-Turkic *(i)āĺ- (“to cross (a mountain), to surpass”).[1]
Compare to Kyrgyz ашык (aşık, “surplus, excessive”), Uzbek oshiq (“more than; excessive”).
