Borrowed from Itelmen аʼӈичӽ (a'ngičch), of onomatopoeic origin. Cognate to Tundra Nenets ӈаʼʼӈо (nga"ngo, pochard, long-tailed duck) and Nivkh ауӈк (auŋk, type of duck).
