From Middle Mongol 莎郎合思 (Солонгос, Goryeo). Compare Jurchen solgor (Goryeo) (whence Manchu ᠰᠣᠯᡥᠣ (Korea) and borrowed as Mongolian Солго (Solgo, Korea)), Old Turkic 𐰲𐰇𐰞𐰍𐰞 (čölüg, Silla), Chinese 新羅 (MC sin la, “Silla”) and Japanese 新羅(しらき) (shiraki, Silla).
