[edit]Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic елисаветь (elisavetĭ), from Ancient Greek Ἐλισάβετ (Elisábet), from Biblical Hebrew אֱלִישֶׁבַע (ʾĕlîšeḇaʿ, “God is my oath”).[1]
