Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic елисаветь (elisavetĭ), from Ancient Greek Ἐλισάβετ (Elisábet), from Biblical Hebrew אֱלִישֶׁבַע (ʾĕlîšeḇaʿ, God is my oath).[1]
