Etymology
[edit]The entry by Beekes in his Etymological Dictionary of Greek reads (in paraphrase):
"The word has been connected with Latin fallō (“I deceive”) and with ἀποφώλιος (apophṓlios, “ignorant”). According to Beekes, the adjective is Pre-Greek."
