[edit]From a *bʰ-extension of Proto-Indo-European *dʰewH- (“mist, smoke, haze”).[1] Compare also τῦφος (tûphos, “fever”), τυφόω (tuphóō, “delude”), Τυφῶν (Tuphôn, “Typhon”).
