τιβήν
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Alternative forms
[edit]- τίβηνος (tíbēnos)
Etymology
[edit]Furnée connects θῖβις (thîbis, “basket”), which he derives from a Semitic source. He remarks that the suffix -ην points to Anatolian origin, which may perhaps indicate that the word is Pre-Greek.
