Etymology
[edit]In antiquity, the word was derived from the Arcadian personal names Τήμενος (Tḗmenos) or Τήβεννος (Tḗbennos). Furnée showed that the word is Pre-Greek in view of the variations "β/μ" and "ν/νν".
