Etymology

From σῠν- (sun-, “beside, with, along with”) +‎ ὅρος (hóros, “boundary”), from Proto-Hellenic *wórwos (whence Mycenaean Greek 𐀺𐀺 (wo-wo)), from Proto-Indo-European *werw-; possible cognates include Latin urvō (“to trace, mark out bounds”).
