[edit]Alternative forms
[edit]- πατίλη (patílē)
Etymology
[edit]In the second meaning, it belongs to σπάτος (spátos, “hide, leather”). The first meaning may also be combined with "leather waste" as a euphemistic metaphor. However, it is more probably a Pre-Greek word. Compare also τῖλος (tîlos, “thin stool, as in diarrhea”).
