σάμαξ
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Formation like οἶσαξ (oîsax), but further unexplained. Belardi rightly rejects a connection with Proto-Indo-European *sam- (“water, sea, swamp”). The suffix rather shows Pre-Greek origin.
