λύγδος
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Ending as in μόλυβδος (mólubdos) and κίβδος (kíbdos). A connection with λευκός (leukós, “white”) is morphologically hard to explain, as the suffix -δος is not productive. According to Beekes, the word is probably Pre-Greek.
