θύσανος
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Technical word in -ανος. According to Persson, it is from Proto-Indo-European *dʰudʰ-ih₂, the same root of Latvian duša (“bundle of straw”). However, the variation shown in θυσανόεις (thusanóeis)/θυσσανόεις (thussanóeis) rather points to a Pre-Greek origin.
