γιγγίς
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Solmsen assumed an earlier form *γεγγίς (*gengís), with assimilation, connecting the word with γογγύλος (gongúlos, “round”). However, according to Beekes, it is rather a Pre-Greek word.
