βρένθος
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]The meanings "arrogance" and "kind of waterbird" are probably not related. If βρίνθος (brínthos, “kind of bird”) is reliable, the bird name may be Pre-Greek. On the other hand, βρινδεῖν (brindeîn, “to be agitated, provoke”) is not related.
