βλέτυες
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Alternative forms
[edit]- βλίτυξ (blítux)
Etymology
[edit]Analyzed as a derivation from a stem βλε- found also in καβλέει (kabléei, “to gulp down”) and βλεῖ (bleî, “to collect honey, milk”). According to Beekes, since this stem cannot be of Indo-European origin, the word must be Pre-Greek, which is confirmed by the alternative form.
