[edit]According to Beekes, the gloss consists of two or more elements. One may think of a connection with Persian بغ (bağ, “god, deity”); if so, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰeh₂g- (“to divide”) (see Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰagás).
