Etymology
[edit]From σῴζω (sṓizō, “save”) + πᾰτήρ (patḗr, “father”), literally “savior of the father.” Compare Σωσῐκρᾰ́της (Sōsikrátēs) / Σωκρᾰ́της (Sōkrátēs, “Socrates”), Σωσῐκλείδης (Sōsikleídēs) / Σωκλείδης (Sōkleídēs, “Socleides”).
