[edit]From Proto-Scythian via Old Persian *Xšaθrakah,[1][2][3][4] from Proto-Iranian *xšaθram (literally “reign, kingdom”) + *-kah (suffix), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kšatrám + *-kas), whence also Ossetian Ӕхсӕртӕггaтӕ (Æxsærtæggatæ).[5]
