[edit]Borrowed from Egyptian; candidates for the original etymon include mry-nṯr-ꜥꜣ (literally “beloved of the Elder God”),[1] mꜣꜥ-n-ḏḥwtj (literally “true to Thoth”), and mry-n-nt (literally “beloved of Neith”).
