[edit]- From the name of an Oscan tribe that settled in the area, 3rd century B.C.
- From καλά (kalá, “beautiful, lovely, good, quality, useful”) and βρύω (brúō, “to abound, grow luxuriantly”), but this could be folk etymology.[1]
