Borrowed from Old Persian *Bagavahyah, from 𐏎 (BG /⁠bagaʰ⁠/, god) +‎ *vahyah (better). Cognate with Imperial Aramaic 𐡁𐡂𐡅𐡄𐡉 (bgwhy).[1][2]
