  1. (IPA) a voiceless bilabial fricative.
  2. (superscript ⟨ᶲ⟩, IPA) [ɸ]-fricated release of a plosive (e.g. [pᶲ], sometimes implying an affricate [p͜ɸ]); [ɸ]-coloring; or a weak, fleeting or epenthetic [ɸ]. A "whistled" sibilant in the case of Shona /sᶲ/.
