Etymology
[edit]From Arabic خَيْر (ḵayr, “good, goodness”). For the sense compare the phrase جَزاكَ اللهُ خَيْرَا (jazāka llāhu ḵayrā, “thank you!”, literally “may God give you good reward!”).
