From Old Norse eykt, from Proto-Norse *ᛃᚨᚢᚲᛁᛞᛟ (*jaukido /⁠*jaukidō⁠/), from the verb *ᛃᚨᚢᚲᛁᚨᚾ (*jaukian /⁠*jaukian⁠/).[1]
