[edit]Literally, “in short [time]”, using the obsolete adjectival sense of curând. Compare the obsolete expression în curândă vreme (“in short time”).

Usage notes
[edit]While în curând is the most usual way to express “soon” in contemporary Romanian, it cannot combine with mai (“more”) to yield “sooner”; for this curând alone must be used (mai curând, not *mai în curând).
