Northern Kurdish

[edit]Akin to Central Kurdish چین (çîn), perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *kʷey-. Chyet suggests a loan from Russian чин (čin) instead, but the fact that it doesn't exist among Caucasian Kurds is puzzling in that case.
