[edit]Preposition
[edit]- through
- On peut voir le Soleil à travers les nuages. ― We can see the Sun through the clouds.

Usage notes
[edit]- Not to be confused with de travers, en travers or au travers de.
- Like most French terms ending in -rs, à travers does not form phonological liaison with subsequent vowel-initial words; instead, enchaînement occurs with the /ʁ/:
- à travers /a tʁa.vɛʁ/
- à travers un champ /a.tʁa.vɛ.ʁ‿œ̃ ʃɑ̃/ (across a field)
