[edit]Reduplication of waha from Proto-Polynesian *waha (compare with Hawaiian waha, Rapa Nui haha, and Tahitian vaha)[1][2] from Proto-Oceanic *fafa (compare Samoan fafa) from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *baba₁ (compare with Malay bawa (“to carry, to bring (in general)”), Tagalog babá (“to piggyback”))[3]
