From Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (tapšurmaq).[1] Cognate with Turkish tapşırmak, Uzbek topshirmoq (to deliver, hand over, present), Uyghur تاپشۇرماق (tapshurmaq), Kyrgyz тапшыр (tapşır, to hand over; to assign).
