Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *iš-kruma, with a non etymological -mb-<*m (cf. Romanian scrum, from Albanian) from Proto-Indo-European *krem, attested in Latin cremō (to burn),[1] or from Proto-Indo-European *skremb, *skr̥mb (cf. Lithuanian skrembti (to crust over, stiffen), Swedish skrympa (to shrink), English shrimp). Compare also Romanian scrum (ashes).
